Hunting abroad · The largest country in East Africa
Tanzania
At 945,000 km² Tanzania is the largest country of East Africa – politically stable and safe.
The country lies between 1° and 12° south; the islands of Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia also belong to it. Nearly 120 languages are spoken, 90% of the population speaks a Bantu language, most widely Swahili.
Four international airports serve the country: Dar es Salaam (DAR), Kilimanjaro (JRO), Zanzibar Kisauni (ZNZ) and Mwanza (MWZ).
Most of the surface is covered by the rolling savannah of the East African plateau, from which huge volcanoes rise in the north – among them Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa.
