Hunting abroad · Chamois, red deer and roe next door
Austria
A short drive, living hunting tradition, precise organisation.
Austria is the most obvious destination abroad for Hungarian guests: the mountain grounds of Styria, Carinthia, Salzburg and Tyrol are a few hours away by car, with no flight needed.
Chamois, red deer, roebuck, mouflon and wild boar may be hunted. At higher altitudes ibex is also possible, under a strictly limited quota and usually with a long lead time.
Hunting is governed by the law of each federal province, so seasons and rules differ from one to the next. A professional hunter must accompany the guest, trophy assessment is strict, and the observance of hunting traditions is expected.
Mountain stalking demands good condition, but easier forms exist too: accommodation in a hunting lodge, high seats or a stalking carriage in the lower forest grounds.
